David Vaughan is entering his seventh year of coaching youth baseball. He brings a team-first mentality to everything he does and is passionate about helping players grow through adversity. Mental toughness, attitude, and effort serve as the foundation of his coaching philosophy. David believes that every day spent on the baseball field is a gift—and that there is no better place to be. He believes baseball is one of the best teachers of resilience and uses the game to help players learn how to handle failure, compete with confidence, and grow as teammates.
David graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in 2001, where he played four years under Kansas Hall of Fame coach Bill McDonald. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance) from Avila University in 2006, followed by his MBA in Finance from Rockhurst University in 2008. Professionally, David has spent over 20 years in consumer finance, including the last 15 years in the mortgage industry.
David is married to his wife, Laura, and together they have two children: Alexander, who plays baseball in the organization, and Katherine, who plays softball. When he’s not coaching or spending time with his family, David still plays baseball himself. He is currently in his 15th year competing in the KCMSBL/MABL and catches for the KC Hustlers.
